After publishing Field of Honor (Volume I), I was commissioned the design for Open Field (Volume II) and Field of Blood (Volume III) by the Granada publisher Cuadernos del Vigía. The starting point was partially taking over the design of the Magic Labyrinth’s first volume, a series of novels about the Spanish Civil War by Max Aub.
My main objective was for the first three volumes of the series to have stylistic cohesion and to have a common thread in their covers. This led me to keep six elements or objects that had a direct connection with the volume‘s topic and while representing the six novels symbolically. I also used the colors of the covers to form the republican flag with the three first volumes, this allowed me to also speak about Max Aub’s work from the color perspective.
